Senior Data Protection Professional
Legal Counsel Compliance Privacy Regulatory Lawyer Paralegal Senior Sr
At MacPaw, safeguarding our customers' data is our top priority. We take data protection legislation seriously, so we're excited to announce that we're looking for a Senior Data Protection Professional to join our team. We're looking for someone up for a challenge, as this role requires staying up to date with the constantly changing regulatory landscape.
This critical role will help us enhance our management of potentially sensitive information and ensure we're meeting global privacy standards like GDPR, CCPA, and others.
In this role, you will:
- Lead data protection risk assessments and drive remediation across the organization, offer compliance advice, and conduct monitoring activities
- Own and continuously improve the company's data protection governance framework, including policies and standards
- Drive data mapping initiatives across company assets and systems
- Pilot and implement privacy automation tools to scale compliance efforts
- Lead reporting on data protection risks and governance to senior stakeholders
- Ensure all software products, services, and third-party tools meet data protection requirements in the US and EU/UK
- Champion data protection awareness and deliver training across the company
- Collaborate closely with legal, security, and product development teams
Skills you’ll need to bring:
- 5+ years of experience in data protection, privacy law, or a related field — ideally within a software or tech company
- Deep expertise in GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant privacy regulations
- Hands-on experience building or significantly improving a privacy program
- Strong technical literacy — you're comfortable discussing software architecture, APIs, and data flows
- Excellent communication skills — you can translate complex legal requirements into actionable guidance for engineers and product managers
- A proactive mindset — you spot issues before they become problems
The following would be an advantage:
- CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent privacy certification
- Experience with privacy management platforms (OneTrust, Osano, or similar)
