INTERNAL - Expert Product Owner for Cloud Infra (all genders) - Berlin

Your Mission

As Product Owner for the Cloud Infra team, you will be the strategic and technical owner of the cloud infrastructure layer powering SoftwareFactory.
 
SoftwareFactory is the foundation of MB.OS, enabling developer productivity across multiple Mercedes Benz organizations.  
 
Furthermore, the SwF Cloud Services offers Infrastructure as a Service for ECU teams – further scaling the AWS infrastructure.
 
You will carry full end-to-end accountability for defining, evolving, and continuously raising the bar on world-class cloud infrastructure serving Mercedes Benz developers worldwide.
 
You will drive alignment across vendors, senior stakeholders, cloud engineers, and SRE engineers throughout Mercedes Benz AG — leading the strategic evolution of our infrastructure and setting the direction for next-generation capabilities.

Sneak preview of your future tasks

• Drive the strategic vision with Product Managers, Business Owners, and System Architects, owning the definition and delivery of high-impact, user-centric infrastructure capabilities.
• Lead and govern multiple Product Teams, setting the standard for delivery excellence, cross-team alignment, and rigorous prioritization across all Infrastructure areas.
• Partner with SRE and platform teams to enforce high-quality delivery standards, resilience requirements, and operational excellence across the full stack.
• Own and continuously sharpen a product backlog and multi-quarter roadmap that balances user needs, technical excellence, and strategic business priorities.
• Establish and model transparency across Teams, Stakeholders, and Senior Leadership ‚Äî shaping shared vision and driving outcomes at scale.
• Facilitate and lead high-stakes Agile ceremonies, define ambitious Sprint goals, and champion continuous improvement in delivery practices and team performance.
• Take full ownership of platform compliance and security posture, proactively influencing governance frameworks and steering security-by-design across the infrastructure.

Your Profile

• Expert-level track record operating large-scale AWS infrastructure across a significant number of accounts in enterprise environments.
• Extensive, demonstrable success as a Product Owner or Delivery Lead delivering complex B2B cloud products and services at scale.
• Exceptional strategic thinking: instinctively identifies what creates the most value, cuts through organisational complexity, and breaks silos between domains to deliver cohesive, lasting outcomes.
• Rigorous data-driven decision-making: you set the standard for evidence-based prioritisation, using metrics and analytics to influence executive-level discussions.
• Expert understanding of cloud architecture, distributed systems, and infrastructure-as-a-service patterns.
• Mastery of Agile frameworks and scaling models, with deep hands-on experience coordinating delivery across multiple interdependent teams.
• Proven ability to manage high-complexity dependencies across teams in different architectural layers, organisations, and partner companies.
• Outstanding stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with a track record of shaping decisions in complex, multi-layered corporate environments.

Nice to have 

• Hands-on GCP experience in production environments.
• Deep multicloud expertise at large scale, including EU sovereign cloud architecture and compliance requirements.
• Advanced Kubernetes expertise with large, production-grade clusters.
• Background in leading cloud or platform engineering organisations beyond the manufacturing sector.

Education 

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a comparable field. An advanced degree (MSc, MBA) or equivalent industry certifications (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Professional, CSPO, SAFe) is a strong plus.

Language skills 

• Proficient in English.
• German is a plus, not a must.
